I was talking to a friend who just serviced his 2012 Hyundai suv and he said the Hyundai service adviser told him they use synthetic oil in all the 2012 3.5 v6 engines. I was not aware of this... Maybe it was another dealer game i dont know.
I know my 2011 awd v6 3.5 santa fe s use conventional 5w20
anyone see this in their owners manuel?

They use it and Hyundai requires it are 2 different things. However my understanding from posts here 0w20 is always "synthetic" (correct me if I'm wrong). So if Hyundai is stamping 0w20 on their oil caps now then that can be why?

I believe some of the turbo ones recommend it but I don't think it's required.

I think I saw a 5.0 Hyundai or Kia in a tv commercial during pre game or during the Superbowl.

They say (owner's manual) "for improved vehicle performance" use 5W-40. You'd be hard pressed to find a 5W-40 that's not at least groupIII(+) "synthetic"... for the 2.0T
