Most ester based oils including bio-ester oils like G-Oil have high HTHSV's relative to the their KV100 spec's. For something similar take a look at RLI oils. Their 20wt oils have the HTHSV of most petroleum 30wts and their 30wt oils HTHSV of most 40wts. It's too bad G-Oil doesn't provide the HTHSV spec' for their oil as oil pressure corresponds to the HTHSV rating of an oil.

The tip off as mentioned is that the oil doesn't have a fuel conserving rating so it's HTHSV is undoubtedly over 3.5cP.
Does G-Oil make a 20wt oil? If you otherwise like this product that would be something to consider.

Here are some specs for their 10W30 and SAE30:

ASTM # 10W-30 SAE 30
Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt D 445 59.0 83.0
Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt D 445 10.4 12.5
Viscosity Index D 2270 166 148
Flash Point, °C (°F) D 92 223 (433) 220 (428)
Pour Point, °C (°F) D 97 -43 (-45) -24 (-11)
CCS Viscosity, cP @ -25°C D 5293 MRV Viscosity, cP @ -30°C D 4684 HT/HS Viscosity, cP D 4683 3.09 3.7

Given that their 10W30 has an HT/HS of 3.09, I am curious if the 5W30 would be much higher. I know that is could be. It just seems a little odd.

I agree it does seem odd but then the 10W-30 is not API certified.
Regardless, the OP's oil pressure observations tell the story.

Keep in mind that those figures are for their "4 Cycle Outdoor" products. No doubt their 5w-30 is formulated differently.
