i run a cat backhoe and it uses this oil. is there an equivalent that i can use?

Its probably an ISO 46 hydraulic oil. Given that its outdoors that would span the right temp range. TSC should have it, maybe even Walymart.

Dave, I wrote to Amsoil via email and they responded very quickly.

Simply tell them what kind of pump and what oil you are using.

We have a BUNCH of Cats running Amsoil compressor oil and it works well.

Is it Cat Hydo or Cat Hydo Advance?
Either way, chose a premium (name brand) hydraulic oil, and feel safe.
I'm not sure I would use the compressor oil in my personal hydraulic system.

Ps. I work for a major hydraulic system manufacturer

I think he was looking for Caterpillar oil not Cat pump oil.
