Purolator date code

Does anyone know how to figure out the date code that's stamped on the Purolator filter? I remember awhile back somone posted what the numbers and letter means.

F= Fayetteville, North Carolina Plant
03= Month
C= Year 2011
21= Day of the Month
G= Line Number
1= Shift

Wow, the year in the date code is the alphabetic character buried back in the 4th position? That's a seriously cryptic code to decipher, but it's great to know how to read it. At least the month is a little more obvious. Thanks for the info, kemo and previous poster Mustang2008Z.
