33,064 on the U341E 4-speed auto. I bought the car with about 28,000, drained and replaced 2.6 quarts (via drain plug) just before 30,000. The factory fill was very dark with wear material but did not smell burnt. This sample--3174 miles after the first drain--is about 1/3 new fluid and 2/3 original fill. Blackstone said the high aluminum suggests excess wear in the torque converter. Universal averages are "for a Toyota transmission" at about 30,000 miles. I assume this includes all Toyota automatics and fluid types.

Thoughts? The trans shifts and sounds fine, and hasn't been opened that I can tell. My plan is to drop the pan (that will be the third change of 2.6 qt or so) and replace the filter this summer. I'm also considering flushing a few quarts by cooler line at that time and adding a Magnefine if I can find room. It has a 100,000 powertrain warranty, which could be complicated by the Magnefine.

hard to how the 1st owner treated it...could be fine...Flush it, I would add the filter, but I understand the warranty issue...
