This engine clls for 12 050 01-S. The fram is PH8172 I believe. Is the number for NAPA Gold 1056??

Funny you should ask. Just changed my oil today, but decided to re-use the Kohler filter this time. But, I was looking for a cross reference for the Kohler filter. Here's what I came up with. Wix 51056, Fram PH8172 and in Purolator the L35310.

It does seem the Napa Gold number is the FL1056, the specs look right.

The Napa filter I have is 1056 not fl1056 are they the same?

Looking closer the online cat. # says FIL 1056, but yeah, it's the same filter.

I personally run Motorcraft FL400s or Purolator Pureone equilvalent but on some Kohlers their isn't enough clearence

Yeah, the OP's single cyl Courage has the filter oriented in such a way, you're limited on size choices. On the Courage V-twins like mine, the sky is the limit with space. I run FL400's. The blocks are pretty much identical to a Command block.
