I was told that there were synthetics in Mercon V. I was wondering if there were any in Mercon. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Oops, I just noticed you weren't asking about Mercon V. My mistake!

As we all know, the Mercon specification is obsolete. Ford is no longer issuing licenses to makers of ATF for Mercon fluid.

That said, just about every maker of a synthetic ATF has one that is "recommended" for transmissions that call for the Mercon fluid. Read the label on the bottle or the data sheet on the web site of your favorite brand of ATF. They're everywhere.

Because FORD specifies Mercon V to be used in former Mercon applications, Mercon V products will now state that they are for use in Mercon applications.
I have used Mobil 1 ATF and Redline D4 ATF, both of which are full synthetic.

As with any product, read the specifications called for in your vehicle's owner's manual (and any TSBs that may update this) and give the product bottle's label a very good reading.
This will get you lined up with the correct product for your application.
You can almost always get this information from the product websites as well.....for your vehicle and for the product you are considering using in it.
