Oh there's faults alright.. One of my favorite companies only a few years ago, builds a bunch of useless stuff in the last few years. I like the old Chrysler... I hope they can revive the brands.

I think you can put the lions share of the blame on the Chrysler management that allowed the merger with Daimler back in the late 90's. Before the merger Chrysler was flush with cash and assets and had a really decent, if not fantastic product line up.

I think the results of the FIAT takeover are going to create some of the nicest, most balanced, and reliable products that Chrysler group has ever had it their history. I really think this scenario is going to be a pleasant surprise to everone.

Not many are expecting a good outcome but wait a bit and watch!

I thought the PT Cruiser was a joke, but didn't it sell well? (I realize I am out of sync with popular taste.)

I hope that this is not one of these confessions where Chrysler will say "We know what we did wrong and we promise to do better, but can we please have some more bailout money, as we're short at the moment, we promise to pay all of it back".

So, if they can do this plan on their own, then good for them and I hope they succeed, but if we need to get them more money, then forget it, let them die, Fiat owns them, so why not let Fiat invest some of their own money, huh? They should foot the bils from now on.

Not buying it.

When I was recently quoted $390 at my local Dodge dealership to replace a cracked fuel filler neck on my Caravan, I was told that they had 13 filler necks on back order with an ETA of January 2010, I realized that there just isn't much hope for this company.

After I stopped laughing, I went online, got a filler neck delivered for $125 and gave my mechanic $60 to put it on. (Flu stinks)

Yes their a joke alright, sold over 1 million units. Maybe you need to take a ride in a GT stick and your opinion on them will change quickly;)

They have a few good products. Their best product, IMO, is the Sprinter van which it looks like they will replace and that worries me. It will also be interesting to see another unibody pickup besides the Honda Ridgeline. The Jeep GC and the Jeep Commanche pickup were unibody, so they should execute that well.

Unfortunately, reading the Edmunds long term Caravan stories makes me worried they can't execute, even on better plans. But, we'll see.

A friend of mine used to have one. I was surprised at the amount of room it had. A very functional vehicle, which is a large reason it sold well.

I hope that Fiat has upgraded their status from being on par with Peugeot. Artise~'s make beautiful cars .....that are more suitable at being admired in conversation over a glass of wine at the cafe. Both knew the inside of a repair shop so well in North America.

The PT was revenge for what the dealers did to the Prowler. It worked well.

I agree. The Germans overpaid and never recovered. They didn't do their due dilligence. Once the Chrysler stock was taken off the S&P 500 list because it was now part of a German company...all the S&P 500 mutual fund managers dumped it in the following month crushing the stock price and Daimler could never recover the value lost in the share price. Why the SEC would allow this type of deal with it's resulting losses is beyond me. Any 1st year stockbroker could have seen this coming. But in the late 90's the NYSE was booming and nobody could lose money...right? no-no
