I've been reading about that Subaru cooling system conditioner
and it looks like it is specifically designed to use in the aluminum engine but I don't know what type of Coolant Subaru uses?
looks like I need to find out what chemicals Toyota red coolant uses and what Subaru use to compare

I dont know maybe this Amsoil 0W30 VOA has that much of silicon as part of conditioner?

Does anybody have a VOA of this oil so I can compare?

This is interesting, thanks for posting this UOA.

The Toyota 1.8L 2ZZGE engine is one of the engines that Amsoil flagged as being prone to sludge issues with extended drain intervals; which prompted them in pulling the EaO9 and 10 oil filters off the market.

Question: What’s the owners manual list for normal and severe duty oil change intervals?

Keep us posted on this.

Maybe we can see what Amsoil is seeing?

I am using Purolater Pure One PL14477 oil filter on my engine.
Owners manual says to use 5w30 and 5K miles interval oil changes.
I need to look up what they recommend for sever duty I dont have the manual right now with me.

All duty cycles in Toyota's starting with the 2005 model year is 5k miles or 6 months (whichever comes first) PERIOD.

No matter how you drive or what you drive those are the numbers.

You almost hit the insolubles limit! You would need to at the very least change filters on the way to 10K if you wanted to push that far. First though you need to get that coolant leak under control!

Interesting. Looks like this has changed with the 2010 model year as Toyota's new 0W-20 Synthetic oil is recommended for up to 10,000-miles in normal use.

Bill,

GM must have missed the meeting with Toyota when this was discussed as my 05 Vibe owner's manual states:

...Change the oil and filter every 7,500 miles (12 500 km) or 12 months — whichever occurs first...

(This OCI is permitted only if the vehicle does not experience "severe" use. i.e

- most trips are less than 5 miles

- most trips involve extensive idling

- tow a trailer or have a carrier on top

- the vehicle is used for a commerical application)

Not on the 2010 Camry I test drove the other day. It had 5w-20 for its recommended oil and 5k or 6 months for the OCI.

2.5l I4 LE Auto.

Ticked off the salesman as I opened the manual packet to read the manual. He said they only open it for the new owner when they deliver the car.

Oh well... I told him if you want any chance to possibly sell the car, I'd better see a manual soon. Toyota sales people must not be hurting after spending some time with this guy.

Nice car. But the wife wants a Station wagon / small SUV since we have already one sedan. duh

Take care, bill

Ok so I'm making this up I guess....

Here is the manual. NO WHERE does it say anything other than 6 months or 5k.

IF you'd like to see the rest of the manual to 150k miles I can post it.

Again, this is what Toyota put in each and every car/truck starting in 2005. (the manual is for EVERY vehicle they make)

2004 was the last year for 7,500 miles or 6 months unless you have severe service which lowered the OCI and maintenance.

Bill I was being slightly OT and 'tongue in cheek' That is the Vibe, as you know, is really a Corolla/Matrix i.e it has a Toyota engine. GM clearly did not take Toyota's advice re the 6 month max OCI as my manual states contrary (and I am not making that up either ;))

No problem.

OT
I had a bad day last night changing the plugs on the truck (I've LOST the socket and so far have spent 3 hours, cut my arms trying to find it in the front end of the truck.. Still can not find it and I know it fell somewhere..... So I'm going to put it on the ramps and HOPEFULLY find the @!##^$ socket! mad )

GM and Toyota def had some problems (the recommended OCI, Dexcool instead of over priced Pink to name a few) between the models even though they are the same.

Sorry, bill

Yeah I remember that thread.

The 2010 Camry I test drove did not have that info. Just 5k or 6 months whichever comes first with 5w-20 API SM oil.

Take care, Bill
