I have searched all over and haven't seen much info on CV greases. Off-road is a strange application. They use VW type plunging CV's inboard and outboard, often don't have water-tight boots (sometimes leather or fabric non-rotating and loose on the axle). The CV's operate at large angles, high loads, slide the splines to get more plunge, and all of that adds up to high temps that will fry most greases. They are also cleaned, inspected, and repacked often.

Many people seem to use a 50/50 mix of Bel-Ray Molylube 67700 Anti-Seize and SWEPCO 101 Moly Grease.

The Bel-Ray doesn't say anything useful in the MSDS and I couldn't find one for the SWEPCO. Here are the blurbs from the manufacturers.



Does anyone have any more info on these greases? What is "LUBIUM"?(any guesses?)
They both say non-melt. Does that mean Bentonite?
What out there (besides Krytox) would work better?

For the CV balls I'd just use CV grease, for the splines honda moly60

SWEPCO 101 Moly Grease

Hands down this is the best grease for CV joints. I worked in a race shop and it's all we ever used.
