I recently got a Milwaukee M18 kit with the cordless Sawzall--that thing is the single awesomest tool I have held in my hand (other than my 12 ga Wingmaster pump).
Chops conduit in 1 second flat (whoah! holy @!(#*)^!!! wrong blade!)
Light enough and skinny enough to use with one hand overhead with arm in 6" hole through soffit while hogging a trough in a couple of 2X4's with a 12" blade
Powerful enough to shake me like a rag doll when I used it to cut some 1/8" steel (Whoaaaah! @)&$&!! Wrong blade AGAIN!!)
Sawzalls in general are freakin great.
I just thought I would throw that out there.

They really do "sawz all"
They are my second favorite tool of destruction.

I love my Milwaukee sawzall (corded).
I remember being in the junkyard many times trying to remove different parts for various projects and wishing like crazy I had a cordless sawzall to cut through stuff that was in the way.
This would be the killer application of this tool for me.

Did this come in a kit? I'm looking at a Milwaukee from HD for $299 that comes with a drill and two batteries. I put in two skylights this past summer and had to use a corded one, that was a big PITA, and was wishing all the time for a cordless, so the wife told me to get the model number of the one I wanted and put it on my Christmas list :)
Can you post the exact model number, that would be great :)

I LOVE my milwaulkee corded sawzall. I also have a rigid cordless and it more useless than cordless. wheen I bought my milwaulkee, some old dude at HD asked my why I chose that one. I told him because my Dad had/has one going on 20 yrs and after all the abuse I put it through it still works, it was time to get my own!

H2W:
Mine did come in a kit, bought at HD:
"The 2694-24 M18 cordless 4-tool combo kit includes the 1/2" Hammer Drill / Driver (2602-20), Sawzall® Recip Saw (2620-20), Circular Saw (2630-20), and Work Light (49-24-0171)."
The big (M18 XC) batteries are the bomb, and I built a bookcase using 5/8 birch plywood, all cut on 1 battery charge with the circ saw and the blade that came with the kit!

I've written on here before about how a recip saw was the tool I least expected before purchase to be useful, and which has proven to be most useful in practice. It is amazing the uses that turn up which you didn't see in advance.

I just used an old Craftsman that I believe is about 34 years old that I got from my Grandfather when he passed away. I put a wood blade in was making some small ramps for the rear of vehicles to go along with the front ramps.
I would love to have a cordless model. Using it in the wrecking yard is a good idea. Seeing as you never have enough tools with you when you need a part.

I bought a cheap cordless 18v sawzall from Harbor Freight, and I'm surprised how well it works. The only flaw is the 20 year old technology NiCd batteries it comes with, but I'm going to replace those with NiMh @ 4x the capacity. It really has quite a "bite" even with bad batteries though...(it gets way more use than my corded one ever did)
Just don't try to use the HF blades...*sigh*

They make a metal cutting blade called "the torch", IIRC in 10" lengths. Dave's farm made a convertible in no time at all with one.
On a creeper, on my back, cutting through an exhaust pipe, I would appreciate rolling around not rolling over the extention cord with those little creeper wheels.

exhaust work with a sawzall--I'm convinced that's the only way to fly.
Does anybody know where I can get a hip holster for this bad boy?
And I think I'll be doing away with that sissy poultry knife this Thanksgiving.

Milwaukee makes them in a number of different lengths. They cost a little more than the competitors, but it pays not to cheap out on abrasives, saw blades. I agree that the Torch is an excellent bimetal blade. I've cut probably 100' of 1/4" steel plate with about 2 of these blades. Amazing wear resistance, great usefulness and great value for the money.
