OEM fluid is Esso LT71141. I'm ready to change fluid/filter and my indy mechanic uses Pentosin ATF1. From what I can find out it's a full synthetic, whereas the LT71141 is semi-synthetic. I'd like to switch to full synthetic. Was going to use the new formula Mobil 1 ATF but for some reason we only get the original formula in Canada. Car is a 1999 740iL. Thanks.

Yes, we have Castrol Import ATF up here (Canada) and it's readily available. Bottle label says it meets Esso LT71141 spec, and I may use it but I'd really prefer a full synthetic.

Many of the online parts houses sell Pentosin ATF 1 as a substitute for VW/Audi G052 162 A1/2 which is ESSO LT 71141. As the PDS shows, it is listed on ZF's lube list TE-ML 11B, as is LT 71141. That lube list is for passenger car automatics. I have no experience with the Pentosin fluid but I doubt that you would have a problem with it. If you try it, let us know how it works.
