You know that fine mesh screen that is on the base of a gas can's spout? Well, the mesh on my 2.5 gal can is torn and I'd like to replace it or come up with sort of way to filter the gas that will end up in my mowers.

Any ideas?

Stainless steel window screen maybe an acceptable substitute. You might also use a couple of coffee filters to strain it, and put it in a dedicated/marked clean can, hopefully plastic to lessen any rust issues. You could also try an appliance parts store and see if can get a washing machine water inlet screen replacement to use if the one on the gas can is not to big.

That's a tough one. I can't think of any bulk source for this type of media. Check eBay maybe?

Maybe cheapest/easiest to buy another new can with the screen you want, or at least a replacement nozzle.

I have some laying around. Brass and stainless steel. I dont know what micron rating or what the mesh size is though.
