I'm planning to do the transmission, differential and transfer case fluid change on our '06 Honda Pilot EX 4WD.

I am having a hard time finding the correct fluid type for the transfer case as Honda does not sell the genuine stuff. On various forums, I am reading people using GL-5, GL-4, 75W-90 and 80w-90 fluid. When I look at the Amsoil website, it lists the following:

Transfer Case,.....GL-4
Above 0°C......90
Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90
Transfer Case,.....GL-4
Below 0°C......80W-90
Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90
Transfer Case,.....GL-5
Above 0°C......90
SAE 80W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube
Severe Gear 75W-90
SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube
Transfer Case,.....GL-5
Below 0°C......80W-90
SAE 80W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube
Severe Gear 75W-90
SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube

Which should I use?

Thanks

If it's not too much hassle, can you please find out what your dealer carries as I am unable to get any answer from my local dealers. The car is under warranty with only 13k miles on the odometer.

Nothing mentioned in the owner's manual regarding the transfer case.

All I saw was differential and transmission info.

I do know Honda wants a Hypoid Gear Oil. From my research, the Honda Service manual recommends SAE 90 above 0 degrees Fahrenheit and SAE 80w-90 below 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

What fluid would fit the Hypoid Gear Oil spec and 80w-90 spec?

I'm going to go with the Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-90 fluid. It fits the Hypoid spec and the 80w-90 spec.

Anyone with suggestions, objections, please chime in.
