Possible head & shoulders top forming. I see you're wearing a white shirt.

Anyone considering shorting gold? I wouldn't be shorting anything that's making new highs. I agree. You have to have serious brass ones to try to get in front of a moving freight train. That said, if you are going to do it, now is the time. Oversold both weekly and daily.

Wonder if MON is well-priced at this point.

Wonder if MON is well-priced at this point. Might be - earnings down?? I'll need to study it a bit. Did PF send an e-alert?

My indicators show a short term bottom right here, with an upturn lasting for several weeks and several hundred Dow points..... This was indeed a good week; it's time for a relief rally but the technicals also look good. On the stocks I plot, the MACD is turning upward if not already crossing. I stand on my previous posting and believe this rally will continue.... Anyone here use candlesticks? The MACD now shows signs of topping, as do several other indicators I follow. Might be time to take some short-term profits, although I don't see a huge drop from these levels. Probably more of a sideways movement until indicators show a buy level again.....

Still a bit expensive but seems perhaps worth a nibble around $45 for the long-term. Long-term after all, folks need to eat. There is some good "bad news" helping to drop it for the time being, but that may be a good thing, get in and just reinvest the div, 2%, IIRC for a while. I dont need it to go anywhere for about 35 years

Wonder if MON is well-priced at this point. Don't try to catch a falling knife! True but the support seems decent at $45. Getting there if we have a couple of decent down days.

This may sound stupid and you'll probably say to yourself "Why would I buy it for more than it's currently trading at". Well because this strategy will keep you from buying the falling knife that is in freefall. Here goes....Usually a falling knife won't make it past resistance and the next resistance is 48.85...so if you put in a buy order just above it...say 49.00 it will help protect you from buying something that may have some bad news to announce that may cause it to open up one day much lower. And if it continues down you just adjust your buy/stop order to the next resistance.

Understood. Thanks!
My logic was that the deepest resistance is 45, so if I put in a limit buy at 45 or so, then that is probably the lowest that it will go on whatever other bad news might hit it.
It is an attempt to catch a bottom. I can always adjust my price up if it bottoms higher and I miss it.
Kind of the same, just setting a low buy price to catch near bottom if possible, right?

Don't you mean support at 45? Looking at a long term it's been on a bull run from 2003 to 2008..but is breaking down now. Should have held support around 67 but broke that. Lets see if 45 holds.
