My neighbor and I are sitting on his porch. It's dark out ..and along comes this motorized bike with no lights going the wrong way on our one way street. The rider is wearing dark clothes. We both sorta say "death wish" and go back to our conversation. After he buzzed the street for the 4th time (no muffler), my neighbor calls the police ..and about 10 minutes later a car comes rolling by us. About 10 seconds later the kid comes buzzing by again, but this time he pulls on to the side walk and the engine stops. He comes running up the sidewalk right by us (the porch sits back a good bit) ..loses a sneaker ..picks it up and keeps booking toward home. He ditched it along side my house. My neighbor calls the cops back and the officer confiscated the abandoned bike.

It had no lights, no brakes, and leaked fuel. It appeared to be a lawnmower engine. Sorta "basic" ..but clever, I guess.

My buddy (he's in his mid 30's) got such a kick out of thwarting unacceptable behaviors in the 'hood with apparent impunity. I must admit that I got a good chuckle out of it too.

Saving the 'hood one future gansta at a time (his words).

Thank G0D that the Patriot Act keeps these guys off the streets.

He was probably looking for his grandmother's lost kitten or something. Seen it a hundred times. Shame on you Gary.

You're right. I think he's the kid that offered me a magic cookie out of my own cookie jar. He is quite thoughtful.

"Here, wanna cookie?"

I believe that was in a Bill Cosby sketch. Anyone tried to pull that one over on you yet grandpa?

I had a little more of a chuckle today. I get home, and there are two young men with a Vespa type thing in the road (naturally facing the wrong way). The younger of the two asks if I have a wrench. I ask, "What do you need?". He says, "A wrench". I say, "No, I mean what size???". Anyway, I get them a channel lock and when I come back he's halfway up the block. I said to the other guy, "Hey, I really don't want to deliver this downtown (with a smile)".

Anyway, this is the renegade night rider. He's graduating up to a scooter with a light. My neighbor, who was out doing landscaping with his family just smiled and figured that this would provide even more entertainment later on.

They've doubled overnight I see. Hmmm... sounds like trouble. You should send C.V. man to investigate.
