Good eye Harley! The lab used method ASTM D 4739 to analyze the TBN (almost all UOA's you read here will have been done with this methodology). Most blenders and manufacturers quote their formulated TBN's using analysis ASTM D 2896 methodology. There is typically a 2 point difference in reported TBN values between the lab methods...essentially ASTM D 2896 reports a higher TBN value then ASTM D 4739. So the AME in this analysis is truly a "12 TBN formulation"- Amsoil didn't cheat us. Sorry for the confusion.
