Just a weird observation. I have a 1984 Land Cruiser with 199k miles. I've owned it for 3 years and 50k miles and have run it on mostly on Chevron 20w-50, and Delo 15w-40. It has a very slight oil seep from the rear main area-about 1 drop on the driveway per night. It's done that since I bought it. This change I tried the Rotella-T syn 5w-40 after reading the oil porn on this site. For whatever reason, my oil leak is gone. I drove 1000 miles last weekend and when I got home I noticed the underside of the bellhousing is dry, and no more drips. Any ideas? Does this oil have a seal swell agent that might have changed the condition of my engine seals? I'm pretty happy, but wondering if my leak will come back when I switch back to Delo?

Other motor details-The engine is all original, carbed, straight 6-- 4.2 liter, 8.5 quart sump capacity. On my 1000 mile trip, I used about 1/3 quart of oil which is about the usual consumption I get with Supreme or Delo.

You may want to get the mods to change the title of your post. Just going on the title, before I read the post, I thought you were saying that Rotella T Syn had caused you to have an oil leak, hence "no more" Rotella T Syn.

Fixed the title.

I like the part about the "oil porn"

Have around 90,000 miles on my Jeep Cherokee with the 242 straight six and had a little "wet spot"at the rear seal.Allways used 10W-30 Mobil 1 in it then switched to 5W-40 Delvac 1 after reading some of the UOA's on this forum...wet spot gone...Will try some Esso XD-3 0W-40 synthetic next oil change and see what happens...if it comes back I'
m going back to the Delvac 1.

My Jeep was the same way. It left a drop every other day when using Chevron. Then i started using Mobil 1 5w-30 at 100k, and the leak stopped after 1000 miles also. It has been 10k since and no leaks.
