I should note in fairness that the sample bottle had some used oil in it previously. Although I cleaned it well, it may not have been perfect. For accuracy, I just wanted to note that.
 
Blackstone Comments: JOHN: This virgin sample is a little cleaner than the 10W/30 you sent. It has a little less metal in it,
and no insolubles (solids) at all. The TBN read 12.5, so you're starting out with a high number. The
viscosity was fine for a 10W/40 oil. Note the additive package;

Is that good or bad? What benefits does moly have?

RP has their own anti friction/wear additive that doesn't show up in OAs and the moly here isn't needed to replace Zddp that's better at the job anyway. It's probably beind used more as an antioxident as in most oils.
