Motor has 15,000
Oil had 10k.
Changed Full flow at half way, added 3qts.
Oil guard by-pass.
Shell rot 15-40

Did full change when sample was taken. Trying Shell Rot syn.

Any thoughts or input.

look up in the diesel oil analysis I posted my wifes 2002 power stroke using Shell "syn" 5w/40 not much difference. To get real good numbers a cummins engine is needed.

Can anyone explain why the silicon level is so high? Is that due to break in? Otherwise it would indicate some sort of leak in the air intake or a really dirty filter...

Lightman,

The PSD uses a silicone type oil pan gasket, which tends to leach for the first 20k miles or so. These levels are perfectly normal and I see it all the time with this engine.
