Has anyone used Moog suspension parts? im looking to get a pair of trailing arm bushings and front lower control arms.

Im really concerned about how well the bushings will hold up. Oem is the way to go but considering the moog lower control arm is only 70 compared to 250+ for oem, i wouldnt mind giving it a try if the bushings are acceptable.

If you've had experience with MOOG aftermarket suspension parts, please share! Thank you.
it's going on my 01 acura integra with 155k miles. The rubber bushings are still good for now but i do see some surface cracks. I say it's held up well for being on coilovers for 100k miles and being driven in primarily SF.

Some MOOGs are great, some are average, some are worse than OEM. Do you know someone with a Beck/Arnley part? Usually those are OEM at a lower price.

Ever consider buying an OEM bushing, and paying an automotive machinist press it in for around $20?

Says who? Interesting...

The parts for alot of japo cars are sold by Moog but made by a company called "555" and are fairly good. some are made by Moog but probably not a control arm for your application

I have used them often. You can get them at Carquest.

I use Moog stuff often as well. Lifetime warranty on most parts! Federal Mogul, their parent company, generally has some of the better aftermarket stuff - IMHO of course.

I'm assuming you're buying the lower control arms to replace the lower ball joints. (Maybe not, I don't know anything about Hondas.) I've had very good luck with tie rod ends and ball joints from them, partly because they're generally not lubed-for-life.

I think Moog has more than one quality level. If you perform a search you'll find more. It was something with a letter designation, like "R" and "K" or something.

It's well known that a good number of B/A parts are rebranded OE parts or at least sourced from the OE manufacturers. Some will come in branded OE packaging with an additional B/A sticker or inside a B/A box.

However, I wouldn't says they're "usually" rebranded genuine parts. Some are, some aren't. They also say they use suppliers that "match OE."

They talk about it in some of their videos and show pics:

I'm trying to decide the same thing. Saturn/GM no longer makes oem strut mounts for s-series saturns. My choices are ac/delco( aftermarket) Moog, Monroe/napa, kyb, or sachs. Some say sachs and kyb are the same.
In the 80's moog was very good, i don't know today, so much has been moved to china.

here is the control arm that i was looking at

Not a bad idea considering there are 2 bushings that total 40 bucks from acura. Another $20 to press and install...might just be a better idea than gambling with an aftermarket brand.

I got an odd question, so odd, i don't know if im asking it correctly...

A shop press usually is at least 12 tons and i have a floor jack that is 3 tons, are those "ton" readings the same way? Is the shop press 4 times as strong as my floor jack?

I read that 12 tons should be the minimum and a 20 ton is preferred for a shop press. I mean, if my 3 ton jack can lift up a car in the air, wouldn't it be able to press in a bushing?

I was thinking about using my floor jack to press in a bushing somehow...

I just replaced all 4 ball joints on my s10 with moogs. made in usa, good quality part. so long as you don't get a bottom of the barrel brand you should be ok

I hear that Advance Auto Parts is in the process of gobbling up Car Quest.

Try Deeza, made in Turkey, high quality parts at a reasonable price. 2yr 40,000mile warranty. Available at rockauto.com

^ Yeah Deeza has that up-and-coming reputation.

I've had decent luck with Moog and TRW. TRW was rumored to be OE for my Saturn s-series. Remember many of these guys are also OE suppliers-- if you're going to run a suspension factory you'd do well to partner with new car factories.

Country of Origin varies from part to part-- one brand I saw sitting on a shelf had three part numbers, one each from USA, China, and Turkey.

Moog at one time was very good now its just a name, mostly mid grade quality stuff.
The RK line is considered mid grade by Moog, meaning maybe slightly better than white box or white box with better warranty but not much more.

Chances are better than good this part is third world manufacture and low quality, personally i wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. The part is critical for proper handling and alignment.

Seeing its for an Acura i would go with in order of preference OEM, Beck&Arnley (good chance it is an OEM part), Deeza, Raybestos Pro if available.
Mevotech, Moog and white box are not on the list.

There are still a few NOS Moog products around but you have to look at them first, this part was never on the list.
Screwed up zerk threads, incorrect angle zerks, cheap Mickey Mouse boots, off center holes, poor overall quality are all to common with Moog these days.
In 40 years i have only had trouble with two brands of front end parts that cost me time, money and were genuinely poor quality items. Moog and Mevotech.

Moog is a mixed bag of globally sourced parts. especially for imports, some of its good, decent, or junk. Whatever they make for themselves is either made in usa or mexico.

I had a moog sway link go bad at the joint not too long ago, it started to make popping sounds, lasted about a year and a half. Part was made in mexico if it means anything, did a warranty exhange on it and all is well so far.

Recently seeing some moog brand made in china bushings and i expect more to come.

Yes they are. Haven't yet heard when the funeral for CarQuest will be held.
