GC and Oil burning???

anyone notice issues with oil consumption using GC? More so than other oils you have used

I just rebuilt my engine and its been going through about 1/4 liter every 1000km for the last 9000km since i rebuilt it?

I donno whats going on probably not the oil probably has to do with a poorly built engine...

Never had any detectable oil consumption before, and that behaviour continues with GC.

1998 BMW 528i w/M52 engine
0-50,000km -> 5,000km OCI with Pennzoil synth
50,000km-120,000km -> 6,500km OCI with M1 0W40
120,000km-138,000km (present) -> 8,000km OCI with GC

Initial fills with ester based oils are common. This might continue until your third fill. I have had high consuption with Redline. Give it time and then make an evaluation.

Isn't GC PAO based? I had 1qt/1800 miles of consumption with GC (green) for 6000 miles, filled with a 5W-40 and had 1 qt /2700 miles. BTW 2qt/1000 is within spec for my car

Yes GC is PAO based.

I put GC green in my 2 year old lawn mower. Now, about 6 months later it blows a large cloud of oil smoke when I first start it up. Never did that before, in fact I've never had a mower do that before. It is an overhead valve motor so it is probably leaking past the valve stem seals and guides.
