this report is for a 2006 Dodge w/a 5.9 Cummins --Blackstone comments:
with only 13500 miles on the engine, it's still pretty new and likely hasn't quite made it past break-in. That may explain the increased iron. The increase may also be due to hard driving or heavy towing and if thats the case, then this iron isn't realy a problem. Neither the slightly high viscosity nor the trace of fuel is a problem. The TBN read 6.9 so you have plenty of active additive remaining 1.0 is low. Suggest leaving this oil in for another 2,500-3,000 miles. We'll keep an eye on the iron and the fuel, other than that everything looks ok.

the info on the left is from the CJ-4 the middle is the universal averages , the right side is CI-4 plus Rotella, as for Blackstone's comments they are right on i have towed heavy, 11k camper, the only thing that bothers me that Blackstone didn't comment about is that i got this oil sample from the oil filter ,as i took the filter off and and let some run into the btl, would this cause the sample to be higher viscosity or higher in iron ? also the fuel that i ran for this sample is off road fuel "pink/red" fuel . I was rather worried that the new oil wouldn't hold up as well as the old Rotella it looks like the new oil is doing great

Very good to see that the new oils (CJ4) are doing well. I have been wondering how the CJ4 Delo is doing in comparison to the CJ4 Rotella.

Did Blackstone know you took the oil from the filter? That would change some of the values for sure. Always best to take from drain plug or through the dipstick tube.

Johnny I put the info on the comment sheet when i sent the sample to Blackstone but i think they may have missed it , what would have changed ? would the oil be a little higher in viscosity ?

I e-mailed Blackstone and asked them about taking the sample for the UOA from the filter would make a difference ,there comment:As far as your last oil sample is concerned, taking it from
the filter doesn't appear to have affected anything. Sometimes it
causes insolubles to read high, though that wasn't the case
here. Let me know if you have any more questions.
