Castrol GTX Diesel 15w40 CI-4

Looking at some CI-4 and CI-4+ oils, my truck is a 2006 Dodge CTD, and CI-4 is the recommended oil. I don't think the new CJ-4 oils are bad for our diesels, I have been getting good UOA's from the new Rotella. I am just curious enough to try something new now and again.

What is the difference between Castrol Tection and the GTX Diesel oil ??

It seems like both of these oils are VERY similar.

I do not know, other than the GTX is a CI-4 rated oil, and now the Tection is CJ-4.The TBN of the GTX is a little higher than the Tection also I believe.

Tection sounds like a low SAPS oil so I'm guessing there'd be ~800ppm phosphorus (and ~200ppm sulfur).

I thought I read on Castrol site that the Tection started with a TBN of 12??

That was the CI-4+ Tection HD. I have not seen anything around here except the CJ-4 Tection Extra, 10 tbn.
