What is your driving style?

Depends on which and who's vehicle i'm driving. My Aspire has enough torque down low doesn't do much good to rev it higher. My Ranger 2.3L I have a rev that DOHC to get it to go anywhere, I almost hate driving it anymore. My wfie's Escape slow and easy, although with 200 horses doesn't take much to make it move. Work's new Liberty's I give them ____ for 8 hours.

I'm generally easy on my car, trying to make sure that when I take trips, they're long trips rather than short trips. However, there are a few times where I get a WOT urge, but I try to limit that to once a month or so

Bipolar. I drive very smoothly for mileage and minimal wear most of the time. But if I'm in an aggressive mood my engine sees regular runs to 7000 rpm and my tires suffer. In the last few years I've been good most of the time, and my average mileage is well above EPA highway ratings.

My maintenance intervals are similar to common manufacturer's recommendations, without leaving anything out the way manufacturer's recommendations often do.

with me it depends greatly on what I'm driving... I hammer my '88 Chevy K2500, because it's a tool and I built it to survive it... how I ride my ninja depends on if I'm geared up or 2up.. if I'm geared up on a clear road, I'll drop a knee because it's fun.. if I'm 2up, I drive fairly conservatively... bringing a date to tears isn't a good plan... If I'm driving my Rodeo, I drive like a grandma, basically because the only reason I'm driving that POS is because I've got my kids with me...

Smooth and easy except when I'm merging onto a major highway. I then can use that as an excuse to drop down two gears. I see the redline in two gears and what fun it is.

Chaulk me up as another drive it like I stole it. WFOT most of the time, threshold braking the rest of the time (no abs. One reason I dislike abs, the threshold isn't deep enough before abs decides it knows better). =-)

Here is what I drive and what I have done to it.
Can you guess how I like to drive.

IF IT’S NOT BLOWN THEN IT SUCKS

I get there when I get there but do drive the speed limit plus maybe 5 at the most.

My style has changed drastically over the past 3 years. I'm just not in a hurry to get anywhere anymore. I do the speed limit or just below.

For the most part I'm easy and non-aggressive on my vehicles. Of course there is an occasional bout of tourette's syndrome that kicks in and 'forces' me to mash the go pedal.

On my Honda, I tend to be a bit hard on it. The engine has 154,000 miles on it and it doesn't burn a drop of oil. I like to accelerate swiftly so when possible and safe I regularly use full throttle during acceleration, especially up hill.

I also tend to be a bit more aggressive than average in cornering and braking. Sometimes I drive on certain roads which cause me to be a lot more aggressive in terms of cornering, braking, and throttle

I don't have AC, so almost all travel this time of year is with windows down. I recently drove 150 miles round trip with all four windows down at 70-80mph. Quite loud, earplugs help! I'm sure that isn't so good for the overall gas mileage, especially at highway speeds. At lower speeds, probably, the windows down beats AC. At higher speeds AC is probably better. Winter temps can run down to zero here so it does get some very cold starts and temps as well. I like to drive in the snow and we snowboard, so it gets some trips up to ski areas (sometimes in snowy conditions). Average winter temps are more like 20-25 here. It starts every time.. but in the colder temps (below 15) it can definitely take a little while to crank before the engine catches and runs.

During the university semesters I commute around 10 miles to work, then back and forth between work and the local university (around 5 miles), sometimes several times. There are also occasional evening trips of around 15-25 miles and 150-400 mile highway trips a few times a month. Average MPG for the 8,543 miles I have data for has been 27.4 MPG, with the most recent fillup a mix of 75% highway, 25% city/short trips with 29.12 MPG (EPA 21/28). Average fuel cost per mile: $0.0916. And I carry a bunch of tools around in the back

Current oil (Castrol GTX) has been in 2000 miles. I just completed a double Auto-RX treatment and plan to leave the Castrol GTX in there for a 5000mi OCI. I might do an oil analysis when I pull this one. In 2000 miles it hasn't burned any discernible oil.

Soon-to-be-wife's Golf TDI with 97.5k also gets driven hard. Regular full throttle and higher speeds on the highway. This time of year the AC is on, especially for high speed highway driving. Engine has run Mobil Delvac 1 5w-40 since new, routine maintenance and oil changes (OCI 10k per the factory schedule) done mainly by myself. Looks beautiful under the valve cover (timing belt changed at 90k). Routine mileage is not tracked, but a high speed, heavy, long trip from New Hampshire to Georgia (continuous, around 1250 miles one way, total trip 4000 miles) has yielded mileage over 50 mpg on winter tires, with a similar trip on summer tires yielded over 53 mpg. The EPA estimate is 35/44 so we must be doing something right.

Forgot to mention, Honda is usually shifted around 4k rpm, highway ramps and other spirited driving shifted near 6200rpm redline. Golf is generally shifted around 3000-4000.
