Sample was taken after engine had cooled down slightly. It might have been takes a bit too early in the drain...only removed 1/2 quart total. Amsoil EA034 Oil Filter with Amsoil 5W-30 Series 3000 HDD. Changed the air filter to Amsoil EaA201 after 1,200 miles on used OEM air filter.

The engine is new - no disrespect to the pablo but I would stay with HDD. Check the air filter seal with magnifying glass. Its to early to say change oil types, be patient.

No disrespect taken, I was merely suggesting some lower cost synthetic choices until the engine is fully broken in. At that point 20K(?), no problem switching to HDD.

The 15W-40 is closer to the 5W-40 "DC" oil suggested. The AME has a 12 TBN, so I am going to use this and see how it does...if it works fine I will save a small bit of change.

Thanx for both the feedbacks!

Well changed over to Amsoil 15W-40 AME (Marine/Diesel) with a new EaA034 oil filter. Now I have to wait for 4,000+ miles to see how it does.

Its called gathering data.
30wt oil is too thin for this engine.
Stick with the 40wts, especially since your location is southern. I'd probably risk the 30wts more so up north in land of 'eh!'and if this was Santa's CRD.

12.5k, I vaguely remember, is the recommended oil change intervals. This is a 2.8L CRD with an oil filter the same size as used in a Ford Focus Zetec. Poor soot/insoluble control will be adding to wear.

I'm hoping that the EA034 helps. Wondering if the 15 or 26 will fit. Your next UOA will be very interesting. Thicker oil and boutique filter media should yield interesting data.

what else?-Bitogitis! No seriously, he's prabably trying to find an oil that works to his satisfaction in that engine so that he can get some rest at night instead of worrying about his wear metals PPM, not to mention TBN, etc!

I used the 5w-30 HDD with an EaA034 for nearly 6,000 miles. The 15W-40 seems to be making the engine run a bit quieter and is returning a bit better fuel mileage. The 40 weight is what is called for and it seems like there must be a godd reason ;-) . Now I can go 5,000 and send in a UOA to see the condition of the oil. Once I am happy with the UOA at 5,000 and see what the UOA is at 10,000, I can decide on how often I NEED to change the oil/filter.

With my Aluminum ASFIR Skids I can not fit the longer filter from Amsoil.
