oil for engine dying (rod Knock) Honda Civic

A noisy wrist pin has been known to outlast the rest of the engine.
If the noise is locatable by the spark disable method then alternatly it could be a "loose" piston maybe caused by overheating.
A loose wristpin won't cause blowby or a loss of compression.
A loose piston likely will cause blowby or a loss of compression.
Usually a loose piston will improve on warmup and a wrist pin usually wont improve much if at all.
If each coil (assuming a distributorless system) feeds two cylinders you may have to ground the spark on the disabled cylinder to allow the associated coils other cylinder to fire.
If its a wrist pin...drive on something else will probably break first.

Good luck Sir.

Rickey.

The cam journal is riding on an integral cam saddle (head) with cam "caps".

I wonder if its a collapsed piston skirt. As the engine heats up it expands. The engine will get quieter.

If theres an audible noise something will let go in due time. The big end of the conrod sometimes will not be concentric after it knocks and cannot be fixed even after overbore. Lack of oil will not lubricate the piston pin and that can be that clatter aswell.

If you want to do a ghetto rebuild you can pull the head and drop the oilpan. Unbolt the conrod caps pull the piston/conrod from the top.

I'd get the conrods inspected to see that they are not bent. Pin boss may need rebushing.

Someone might be able to lend you a 4 stone cutter to hone the cylinders true.

Get the pistons inspected to see that they are not collapsed.

Buy it for $200 and take it home and do a cheap fix (like ghetto rebuild) or just by a junk yard engine and swap it out. Its well worth the $200 if it has a good body. Money wise its usualy better to fix sooner rather than later.
