i bought one about 5 years ago and was trying to find another for a friend but cant seem to find them anymore. i thought i heard that they were bought out a shhort time after i picked mine up????

GT bikes are definitely still being made. They have a sweeeeeeet new carbon fiber mountain bike for '07. There is a picture of it in the current issue of BIKE magazine.
GT was bought out a few years back (can't remember who bought them), but the quality of their product doesn't seem to have suffered.

schwinn/GT sold to huffy back in 2001. I bought an I-Drive at a big discount when they were going bankrupt earlier that year.
