I have a brand new yard tractor with a 24-hp B&S Intek V-Twin, calls for the same oil filter yours does. But it will *easily* take a longer filter- in fact, Briggs even specifies a longer filter for their Extended Life series.
My Dodge Neon oil filters have the correct thread, gasket, diameter, & even closely match the bypass valve settings, they just happen to be about an inch taller.
You see where I'm goin' with this, right?
The following filters are recommended for my Neon, & will be the only oil filters my new machine ever sees, once I remove the factory-installed filter. $11-$13 for a lawn mower oil filter? No way! And you need never do it again.
Some part numbers to get you started- remember, these are only about 3/4" to 1" longer than the factory filter. Gives you that much more filter media, & you might find some of 'em on sale cheap!
