Update. He couldn't find the dipstick because it was gone and so was the tube. Apparently rusted off. Anyway he had his regular shop fix that and change the oil. They said the oil looked like tar and was low. Tonight he dumps in one bottle of Auto-Rx. We'll see how it works out.
