Yesterday was my first time under a 2007 Toyota RAV4. It was a snap to change the oil and filter (dropping the factory fill at 1000 miles). However, I saw grease fittings on the ball joints and steering arm but no way to lube them. Usually when I see the rubber seats on a lube point, there's a nipple (e.g., a zerk fitting) to attach the grease gun. I searched visually and with my fingers all over the area of the fitting, and couldn't find where to attach the grease gun.

I know that some fittings are sealed (so-called lifetime lubed), but I've never seen that with those that had the rubber seats.

How do I lube these lube points--or do I?

Ok, I'm confused. Can you see grease fitting's? If you don't see any then you probably have a lubed for life setup.

You'll need to reference the FSM.

If there is no zerk, more then likely its sealed. But, if you have rubber covers, you might be able to thread in a normal zerk. But, make sure you use the correct grease.

I know that I've worked on some sealed but greasable fittings using the syring and needle tips:

Just drive it and wait for them to wear out. My '01 Jetta is at 212,000 miles, tight as a drum. You gotta buy domestic if you wanna grease....
