I'm using Napa/Wix but is Baldwin any good?
I know for a diesel application they are great.Joe

I used to sell Baldwin filters to my customers for their diesel gensets. I loved them. One day, I couldn't find a wix for my Yukon anywhere, so I ordered up a half dozen of them (Baldwins) to keep on the shelf. After using one, I cut it open. I liked it just fine. I think they are seriously underrated.

There are two levels of Baldwins. The cheaper ones I avoid here in northern USA. Too much engine clatter on cold starts. I've compared the better Baldwins side-by-side with NAPA Golds. I'll take NAPA anyday.
How do you identify the different levels of Baldwins?
Baldwin makes a few filters with high perforance glass media that allegedly flows and filters better. I have used them. The B2HPG ( PH8A equivalent ) and the B6HPG ( for Chevy V8s and other apps - check Baldwin croos reference at www.baldwinfilters.com ). Constructed well and priced reasonably if you check around. Has anyone checked the low prices on www.fleetfilter.com ?? I am going to shop there as soon as I use up my ac delco stock in the garage. They are about 1/2 of what NAPA gets for a wix.
