This was provided to me via email by Michel of Horshaus and the Candian Motul distributor to him. Thank you for the information. In addition a CD-Rom with more information than could be tranmitted via email is in route.

This sounds like decent stuff, particularly since GC is fast disappearing. Does anyone know where to get this? Also, are there any opinions as to which would be best for newer VWs? It looks like several meet the 502.00 spec. The X-Clean 5w40 is also the "right" viscosity, but I'm also aware that 5w30s are becoming more prevalent in Europe.

Does anyone know if VW will be updating its list of approved oils in North America to include the newer 5w30s?

Only downside is the cost.

Not only that, the only "majority" ester based oil (double ester) is the 300V series.

ALL the others are GrpIII/IV/V blend. They use the word "ester based" too loosely IMO.
