I'm just looking for some ideas for oil to run in my freshly re-assembled 355 Chevy. It has an Erson 264 @.050 solid lifter cam, 6" alumunium rods, 4500 RPM stall, high volume oil pump, Offy intake with 2 Carter AFB's. It will see no street use.
Back in the 1992 before some junk passed through the motor I was spinning it up to 7500 RPM and was using Castrol 5W50.
Now it's back together and going into a '79 Malibu that's going to be run on a 1000' track. I am thinking Rotella T 15W40 would be a good choice and change the oil about every 30 to 40 passes. If was not for fuel loading in the oil I would run somthing like Amsoil 10W40 M/C oil.
What do you guys think?
