Does Synthetic Gear Lube have a shelf life?

Ive searched but havent found anything on this. I found a case of Mobil-1 75w-90 synthetic gear lube at my parents house. Its probably been in the basement since about 1998.
I can use it in my 95 Impala SS and 06 TBSS BUT, Does gear lube like that have a shelf life where its only good for X-number of years? Is it OK to use or should I just trash it and buy new?

No proof to back me, but IMO it has no shelf life to be concerned about. The difference may be the lastest formula's may be a hair different. Concern warrented for used in a 95 GM Diff, naa.

Ok, its goin in a 95 diff and an 06. both specify GL-5 which it covers so figure as long as there is no sell by date, should be ok. Free beats $8 a pint anyday
