Hello to the forum. First of all, sorry for my english.
I´m from Portugal, i´m owner of a Vw Golf diesel 1.9 diesel n/a, the car are now with 245441 miles, i use motul turbolight 10 40 w, i changed the oil in a period of 4650miles.
I would like to now if a consume of a 0.13 galon between changes is much for the car.
Thanks a lot..

0.5 l oil consumption over 7500 km is not much at all, especially if the engine has 395000 km on it.

tiagolopes,
That rate of oil consumption doesn't sound excessive to me, either. Have you owned it for all 245,000 miles?

I'm really more familiar with Mercedes diesel cars than VW, but your engine might be able to put another 200,000 miles on that car. If it was mine, I'd be interested in the challenge of just seeing what kind of record mileage I could put on it. What does it get, perhaps 40 miles per gallon of diesel?

Something (the possibility of high fuel prices for the foreseeable future) tells me that cars like this might be destined to be rediscovered by the larger automotive public.

NO !! If you consume .13 gal in 4,650 miles that would represent .25 or app 1/4 of a quart or 8 oz in 10,000 miles.

.13 Gallon = .52 Quart

(.52Qt/4650 Miles)*10,000 Miles = 1.12 Quarts

Burning 1.12 Quarts per 10,000 miles is not excessive.
