I just answered a guy who was looking at VW 504/507 oils like EDGE 5w-30 to top up SLX II. I told him to add some M1 5w-50 to thicken what he has and change to an A3 or 5w-40 oil because low HT/HS might not cut it. Would you use a low HT/HS in a Audi VSI? I would not.

Hi,
Audi - we must have caught the same bus!

Low HTHS (2.6 to 3.5 mPas.s)viscosity oils are recommended for use under the ACEA's A1/B1, As/B5 classifications with this cautionary "rider";
"These oils may be unsuitable for use in some engines."

Most Euro engine makers seem more concerned with oils becoming seriously more viscous in use
This has a lot to do with the various technologies used as you well know, being an Audi Junkie and all!
