What can I expect going from a 225/75r15 to a 235/75r15 tire?I'm looking at some all-terrain tires for my Cherokee and there really isn't too much in the 225 size.Would really like to get the B.F.G AT/KO IN 235's but don't to really ruin my mileage or shift points too much. What do you think...should I go up one size or stick to stock ?

It will make the truck look better and drive better IMO.

Better selcection and better prices b/c 225/75 is an odd size.

Like xs650, odometer may read 1-2% low. The truck or the PCM will not even know the diff.

If you had a lift and were going with 33x12.50's, diff situation.

225/75 is an increasingly obsolete size (If you're old enough, its a "J" size tire, or really grey, an 885-15). Use the tire calc pages at

I changed our 2WD to KUMHO Ecsta STZ (Sport Truck spec) from 225 to 255/65-16. Gave up a little in off-line accel (minor, I'm oversensitive), but handling, braking, ride and ESPECIALLY hydroplane reisistance were night and day compared to those terrible GOODYEARS.

My one concern is interference, and section width is what I watch closely. If TIRE RACK has incomplete specs, then go with the manufacturer page.

The GY's wore like iron, rode like iron, handled ater like . . . .

You will have to wind it up a touch more, or hold lower gear longer. How bad? If you'd never driven an XJ, you wouldn't notice. I believe my size change was greater than the one you're contemplating.

And, more than worth it to have them balanced on a HUNTER GSP-9700.

Good luck.
