The Champ car Cossie V-8s are only what, 2.65 liters? But being boosted (and not pneumatic valvetrained?), they do not spin up as high as the F1 works of art/engineering.

I'm late to this thread, but the turbo problem, don't run any oil with a spread like 0w-40 that is available from Mobil 1's product line in a turbo engine. If you do, check it frequently and as it shears down, be quick to change it.

And that link about M1 and performance, pure advertising. At the level of F1 racing there is no such thing as a 3 percent gain in engine performance do to an oil change. Believe me the previous oil was also a cost no object formula. There might be a three precent gain over a conventional synthetic to the racing version, but not between to racing versions of a similar spec oil.

The real truth is the same oil is used in the race cars as Al Amatuizo (sp) uses in his car. Really!!!.

the real truth is the same oil used in the race cars as AL Amatuzio uses in his daily driven car. REALLY!

Have to agree with Mitch, not a chance that $5.00 per qt oil is going to be in any F1 engine.

Most the "good" engines are leased from the factory and are oiled with exactly what they are told to use, regardless of what stickers are on the car.
