Just wondering what the general consensus is about running Royal Purple 15W40 in a high boost application, such as a 2JZGE with a Turbo Upgrade. I only went with the 15W40 because I could purchase it by the gallon, and I am also using this on my Ford Escort SPI with a 2.0L engine.

Any recommendations? I just changed the oil in the Escort and added 1 ounce of Oil Extreme per quart of RP 15W40. I haven't seen too much on Oil Extreme in here and would like to know what you guys think about using it with a Synthetic such as my RP 15W40. I have had better times in a few cars after adding it at the track, but was never sure whether the Oil Extreme was the reason.

The Escort has a K&N style intake and a 2.5" exhaust, with a low mileage engine replacement that has approximately 30,000 miles on the ticker. This is my third oil change on this motor since purchasing it about 5,000 miles ago, and before I had 10W30 RP in it. I also have a performance cam for the motor that has yet to be installed. The motor should produce around 160+ horsepower when the cam is installed. Right now I am guessing around 130-140ish.

Is the 15W40 too thick for the Escort or the Supra? Both are normal compression right now. The Supra will be lowered to about 8.5:1 when I change the headgasket in a few months with the turbo upgrade. I wonder if this is too thick of an oil for the stock compression right now.
Thanks for the input!

Sorry I did not make it clear. Two cars:
Toyota Supra with 2jzge motor
Ford Escort with 2.0 SPI motor

Both will have the 15W40 with Oil Extreme added at about 1-1.5 oz. per quart of RP.

Thanks!

Is this the RP-41 race oil or the other?

Have you done any VOA's or UOA to validate your project?

I bought the cheaper of the two, so I suspect it is not the RP-41 Race Oil. It is just a 15W40 RP oil.

NO tests yet, but I am new to this. I remember buying a test kit in college, where I could take samples and send them to a lab for like 15 bucks. Is this still possible? Thanks!

Robert, I have used Blackstone for the last 3 years and they do well. http://www.blackstone-labs.com/report_explanation.html

If you want and expert read than get the Dyson Special and Terry Dyson will 'splain it to ya. Good luck!

I'd be interested in how you do with the Oil Extreme. I've heard some good things but a uoa would be interesting. It appears that no one, after a search, knows anything about this additive. There are those that say snake oil to everything, but, as with some other additives discussed here, we should say nothing bad, until there is something to say at all.

As a side note there is a professional drag racer from Colorado that manufactures an automatic transmission for dragsters that uses Oil Extreme and says it's great. He has been using if for a couple of years.

Anyhow, it would be intersting to hear more, good or bad from someone that actually uses and tests it.

I agree. I once heard mention that it possibly could turn chlorinated/acidic a la X1R, but I certainly would not hold that as gospel. A VOA would also be interesting.

oilExteme is simply a concentrated Calcium Sulfonate (ash type) detergent in PAO. Can't see any advantages it would offer over a good racing oil.

Ordering the kit today. The car has finally come up on 3,000 miles, since it is only used occasionally. I hope this doesn't tarnish the results. We shall soon see!

I have been using the OilExtreme additive in a BMW. The oil was RP 5/30. I did not notice any difference from using the RP alone. Also didn't notice any change in fuel consumtion. Did not perform a UOA. I am looking forward to see your results.

15W50 RP is way too thick for the engines you are using. Stay with a 5W or 10W30 weight oil. You are loosing hp and efficiency in those tight tolleranced engines.

Do you have results yet Robert?
