Physical Tests

Water(% by FTIR)..less than 0.1, less than 0.1, less than 0.1, less than 1

PQ Index.......38.0, less than 20, less than 20, 10
Fuel %.............1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0

I'm a little worried about the jump in iron, although the PQ index is stable, and it is three times the distance of previous samples/OCI. The lead numbers appear to have stabilised. This is the first oil change after an AR-X clean and rinse. Redline 85 plus fuel treatment is used at a maintenance dose rate (2.5 ounces/tank) for pump lubrication and injector cleaning.

Any comments ?

Rick.
I intend to dump the oil, change filters and retest to establish a trend on D 1.

Rick,
please bear in mind that I'm an idiot savant (sans savant on this issue). But your post has sat there for so long, I've tried to form some opinions (opinions are like arseholes...everyone has one).

I reckon that 15,000km is a bit too long for this oil in this application.

Japanese diesel engines and 10,000km stretches my comfort levels on synthetic.

As an aside on my 4Runner, I notice a drop in fuel economy at 12-13,000km. If it persists for 3 tanks , I change the oil. Works every time.

I wonder if there is some "barrier" that you crossed.

yep, thats what I'm thinking Shannow, as the 5 000km analysis on the D1 was so good.

It has been working hard, towing horses, and, except for the lead, is in front of my Landy @ 10 000km with D1.
I can't help but think that the 85 Plus fuel additive is skewing the numbers, but the engine runs soooo much better after we started using it six months ago, better than it ever did from new.

I changed the oil on the weekend, and added an AR-X maintenance dose, and will maintain the 85 Plus in the fuel so we are only changing one thing at a time. I've had to change the full flow filter this morning as the ADBV leaked. When I spun it off, I didn't spill any oil, it was bone dry.

Thanks for the comments.

Looks like the fuel percentage is somewhat high. I'm theorizing that it's causing a bit extra wear with 1% fuel in the oil. Other than that, it looks good!
