This is the first UOA for my father's other car, a 1996 MB E300D. It has a 3L 6-cyl non-turbo engine. We cleaned the intake manifold gunk out, so its clean inside, and the engine runs efficiently (33-36 mpg).

The engine has 149K miles; 3867 miles on the oil (MB reccomends 7500 mi OCIs, and their engineers have found that soot levels above 2% greatly accelerate wear) Mobil 1 truck & suv 5w-40 (I believe its the same as delvac 1).

yep, thats what we'll be doing next time. Since it was the first OCI I shortened it, but soot is so low, all seems to be well.

oh, im a long time posteron mercedesshop.com's forums... Mainly regarding my w123 car.

Yeah, I didnt need to drain it, but I wanted to get a characteristic at a conservative interval. I knew that I could go 7500mi, but wanted to see how the wear metals and soot looked at this point. Plus I wanted to flush out the remnants of whatever oil was in there previously (cant have additive clash, and the delvac 1'e ester/pao base would clean up anything that may have been in there).

I have a '99 E300 and so does my mom. I'm also in contact with several E300 owners. As you have seen by your analysis, you definitely wasted your money pouring the oil out that quickly. A friend has done several oil analyses on his '97 non turbo E, and at 7500 miles on the oil, it's still doing really well - he's extending to 10,000 and resampling. Good luck, and look to mbshop's diesel discussion forum for some good banter regarding these engines!
