4 qts.I've never had oil spill out of the oil filter during removal.

On my 1992 Toyota Camry 2.2L I just put in 4 quarts, lost the manual. I go to Autozone's web site to check the specs, mine says 4 3/10 quarts with filter. For your 2000 Camry 4 cylinder, Autozone says 3 and 3/5 quarts include filter.

would 5 hurt it. I've been putting that much in there assuming it was 5. Plus when I check the dipstick its only 1/2 to the 2nd dot.

WOW, i would say 3.5qts, and I have a 2000 camry. The only think i know is that it is really hard to check that dipstick, unless you let the oil sit and settle. Make sure to check the back and front of the stick and make an average of the reading. The AT fluid is also hard to check once you remove it and wipe it. I found the best time to check it is after a long drive.

4qt is my vote. My 98' I4 doesn't care that it's actually 3.8qt. 4qt always shows a tad over the fill mark.

I've given up trying to read the tranny dipstick.
