Is there an API gearbox spec for heavy equipment?

I'm thinking about starting to run HDMO in the bottom end of a two stroke motorcycle.

Is there a classification I should look for when choosing an oil?

API specs are generally Automotive related they can run from GL-1 which is just base oil with a AO or PPD can not rmrmber to a full blown EP MT-1 or Gl-5 spec. For a motocycle Id stick to a straight wt 30 or 40 or how about use what the MFG recomends.

I changed with castrol 10W40 and filter every recomended miles by manufacturer ,going on 42 thousand miles .no problem

I've been using Maxima and Bel-Ray gearbox oils and I feel like I'm getting ripped off.

Do any equipment manfacturers (Cat, Cummings, Allison, etc.) have a spec. for their gearboxes?

I'm looking to save some $$$.

I was looking for Allison C4 and Cat TO-2 & TO-4 specs.
