I was wondering if anybody knew what the requirements, or what kind of fluid goes in the Transfer Case of my 2002 Envoy? I bought a quart of it at the dealer, for top off reasons, but I've got 67k miles and want to do a full drain/fill. Is it something Amsoil makes? Is it a "certain" type of oil (i.e. gear lube, trans fluid, motor oil, hydraulic oil..etc..) Sorry for sound so stupid, but Ive never changed T-Case oil before. Any ideas?

Q. What does AMSOIL have to replace GM Auto Trak II fluid?

A. There is little to no information available on the lubrication requirements of transfer cases calling for Auto Trak II. At this point, AMSOIL is not making a product recommendation for this application. AMSOIL is continuing research on this application in an effort to come out with a product recommendation. However our Drive train Fluids expert is looking into the performance demands of this fluid and to develop an AMSOIL product.

I tried to get some transfer case fluid for my cousin's Silverado and the computer at the auto place said something similar, I think it's a GM thing and probably only way is to go to the dealer to get it. Unless someone on the site knows an equivalent? Anyone . . Bueller? . .

It's Gm's Auto-track fluid,it's synthetic and it's blue in color, might have some special additive in it,that's all I know.Do you have auto 4x4??? If you do it's best to use the GM stuff,if it's not then a synthetic ATF will do just fine.

I have the Auto-4wd. I went to the dealer today and for $6.23, I bought one more quart, now I have 2 quarts of Auto-Trak II fluid. I am going to change it tomorrow or the day after and will let you guys know how it goes.
