Thanks for posting this. Strong TBN. Wonder how they are getting that high of a TBN with such little Ca? What lab was this?

buster,

No problem. Thought I'd give a little back since this site has been extremely help to me.

Blackstone Labs did the testing.

btw: cp @ 100C is HTHS. I wanted it at 150C to verify it met the 3.5 cP required by Audi/VW but Blackstone's test equip only goes to 100C.

Terry's said that this M1 0w40 SM sample really should be called 0w-35.

I also posted the UOA on this oil at 4800 miles in a 1.8t engine. It sheared to a mid 30 grade. I've since changed to GC 0w30 green.

How did it shear if it started out as a 0W-35 and ended as a mid-30?

that's what the report said. I checked the numbers against the viscosity chart here on BITOG and the SUS 64.7 looks like it's slightly above the center of the 30 SAE grade range. The VOA SUS 72 looks to be at the bottom of the 40 SAE range.

As I recall those numbers for the UOA and VOA of this batch of M1 0w40 look different from tprevious reports. I thought this info might be of use to someone.
