I would like to see another VOA of the Havoline oil in the future because of the seemingly high magnesium and boron .

I think all the above are great oils. Additive packages are so similar. Makes you wonder if they are all buying the same additive package. ?? Mobil 1 would have the advantage due to it's base oil. Other then that, I think a well formulated oil of any group can produce as low wear as an oil with a higher group baseoil. We've seen that over and over again. Many think switching to synthetic will give them superior wear over a 5k mile drain. Not true at all. That Delvac 15w-40 Grp II is well formulated as is Schaeffers and wear is very low. It's the total package.

Which of these GF-4 oils would you run and why? All are from this board from different labs, but still. All are 5w-30 if space blank, value not given. I guess the old argument over additives or base oil may be decided as UOA's start coming in comparing GF-3 to GF-4.

Forget it, I can't get the columns to correspond. If you look at the five I see on the VOA board--M-1, Trop Artic, Havoline, Mystik, and Mobil Drive Clean--same question.

Sorry again for the umbled mess, it looked so beautiful before poting, I guess I should use the preview post next time.

give me an oil with moderate Mo, and plenty of Calcium and Boron. The Havoline does look pretty good.

I thought the Havoline looked awful strong as well, but I have about 5 oil changes to go on my stock of SL GF-3 oil. I hope by that time there will be quite a few UOA's of the new stuff to look at and make a choice.

Molekule, as a chemist, what would be an ideal amount of Moly and do you think RL would be better off increasing the Boron amounts and lowering the Moly a little bit?
