The only thing that stands out to me is the API classification. You can use SG Energy Conserving, but not SH Energy Conserving.

Which might not matter. I don't think I've ever seen a 10w-40 Energy Conserving motor oil.

my new 06 says i can't use Energy Conserving II oil.

In about 1995, Mobil had enery conserving 10w-40 dino oil. I know, i used to use it in my '88 Pathfinder and '88 Volvo.
