Long story short. My ATV has an engine design flaw. The intake camshaft is just out in the wind while the exhaust cam lives in a bucket of oil.

This is because the engine is tilted forward. if the engine was straiht up it would be fine.

Last year I rebuilt the top end and replaced the intake cam and rocker with new dealer parts since the old cam was almost worn flat.

I was running motorcycle oils that meet JASO-MA specs. It mostly got Amsoil 10w-40 with the ocasional Mobil-1 and Motul.

Since I rebuilt it I have been running car oil. I broke the engine in with Penns 5w-20 with 5 oz of Torco magnetic friction reducer and had no problems with the clutch slipping.

Since then I switched to new Delo400, 15w-40.

Saturday I added 2 oz of Valvoline Synpower to the Delo just to boost the moly and Zink levels.

No clutch slippage!

Tonight I removed the valve cover to adjust the valves since it has about 40 hours on it now. The intake cam is perfect and the valves seem to be holding their adjustment.
