Both my bikes as well as many others I have ridden shift noticeably better with Rotella T 15W40 when compared to name brand Auto and Bike dino 10W40s. OCI for my bikes is 1500 miles so I use inexpensive oil.

I read here on the forum that the Motorcraft 15W40's sulfated ash was nice low .9 and the price at Wal-Mart is great. So how does the Motorcraft 15W40 compare to Shell, Chevron and Mobil HDEOs?

Is there anything in a 15W40 that would prevent it's use in a newer bike that is equipped with a catalytic converter?

Used Rotella T for one oil change in my FJR 1300 prior to go to Rotella T synthetic. The second one is better than the first, however standard Rotella T is a heck of a good oil. It is a terrific value for a conventional motor oil, in my opinion. Standard Rotella T was just fine in my machine for the 3,000 kms that is was in there.

John.
